So it’s taken me a few years to find 45mins to line up the original… remix version of this song with the bad azz video that Shahir made, and upload this video of the song in it’s original form.
To be honest I never liked the radio/video version of the remix, mainly because what I liked about the song itself was the hardness of the hook. Obviously when you take out the swear words that are the backbone of that hook, it’s gonna have less impact-and to me at least-stop serving it’s purpose.
In other music news, the mixed songs for my EP are coming back in one at a time from Stu @ State of Mind, and man it makes a difference having songs mixed. Being a the glutton for work that I am I’ve always mixed my own tracks (well that’s what I thought I was doing at the time – hearing Stu’s mixes now I realise I was just fuckin around).
Finishing up this verse for the bro Jay Knight today, then off for a dive tomorrow to celebrate your queen sovereign’s birthday.
If you haven’t watched it yet, check out the rap-boy-band vid for PNCs Take it all featuring Jordache, David Dallas, Louie Knuxx, and myself. This will be on PNC’s album Under The Influence out later this month, I’ve been bumping the album all week and it’s fresh like new Pani Popo – so get ready to cop that.
Joint I finished recording/mixing today - nothing fancy, just some real life raps and an instrumental.
Instrumental + raps = easy mixing.
On a side note I finally copied EZ Drummer over to the PC today, gonna start banging around on that soon - getting a bit sick of Kontakt's full kit (and no separate mixing for each drum) approach.
An old joint I did with the homie Lil Moe, didn’t really put it on anything, just recorded it cause I liked the beat. Now that I’ve stopped letting the world that is Soundcloud rush me by I’ll be updating it with old and new (or what I can find of the old).
6 years ago today I was in a car crash – I got pretty messed up and the lady in the car I hit passed away. I spent the next few months in Otaki living out of a hospital bed and realising that I didn’t really want to finish my degree at Vic, and would rather give rapping a go. My mate PNC had started blowing up and was cool enough to let me introduce myself on a track with him and Che Fu, so I figured it was as good a time as any.
So I told mum, pulled outta uni $30 something thousand poorer, and proceeded to make Second Chances. This album really was therapy so I wasn’t really expecting any benefit from it other than that, but turned out even with my piss poor mixing attempt, people seemed to like it. So in case you like it too I’ve uploaded it all to Soundcloud
Why no follow up album yet? Mainly because I got tired of the grind, making music will always be my favourite thing in the world – but smashing it out daily online, on radio, and everything else involved in getting music from me to you – is far from anywhere near my top 10 ways to spend time outside my 9 hour work day. There IS an EP on it’s way though – honest.
This is the first track from the bunch of finished songs/still being written, new songs/EP that I’m puttng together at the moment. That’s TK singing in the hook…he’s pretty good at singing stuff, and is on a couple of other joints in said collection of tracks.
It’ll be up for download soon, we’re also shooting a vid for this, the treatment is pretty tech so it’s looking like 2 months of shooting and 1 month of post production, I’ll be posting once we start that!
Good, bad, whatever, let me know what you think about it!
